Actually, pretty good
I almost passed on buying this, because of some poor reviews of the game. I'm sure glad I took a chance. The moves are no harder to do than most any fighting game without a real joystick. I previously learned the special moves from playing a portable version of Streetfighter, so I had no problems with this King of Fighters.
I have the 2nd version of the PSP (psp2000), and the game plays well on it. Any issues are minor enough to NOT detract from my enjoyment. However INITIAL load times are long, but worth it to have this in portable form.
I'd say, If you are a King of Fighters fan, and have learned to do secret moves on JoyPads, you should be fine. If you are not a 2D fighting fan then you simply won't understand, what makes these games icons.
REALLY ADDICTING
Ok, so i'm sure that you have already heard that this game has some serious technical issues. As in, long load times and lapses in sound effects. Well these are all true, the most annoying of these is the loading in between matches(however these are not present in 94 or 95). I found however, that the games themselves are flat out a blast to play. I havnt put the game down since I've received it. I own a psp 3000 and found the moves a breeze to pull off. If you are just getting into 2D fighters this and Street Fighter are easily the two best. Some might find KOF a little hard, I recommend starting at 96 as this is probably the easiest one.
Once again, this game is bugged down with technical issues. If you are impatient and detest loading times this game will bugg you a ton. But this is also the best collection of fighters out there and has five historic and addicting games available in one package. Having it in portable form only adds to the charm for me.
I spent 30 dollars to deliver you this knowledge.
I love the KOF series, but the PSP Orochi Saga does it terrible injustice. It's running off the same emulator that powered Metal Slug Anthology for the PSP, so expect horrible load times and sound effect delays of 3 to 4 seconds. On top of that quarter-circle moves are nearly impossible to pull off which, in 2D fighters, is a very bad thing. The only reason the rating even gets a star is because the game comes with the arranged soundtrack as an unlockable, which is awesome stuff. Of course, that means you need to endure the terrible gameplay in order to unlock it.
All said, these aren't bad games, just terrible emulations. If you must get Orochi Saga, get it for the PS2 instead.
